All tutors must be qualified and DBS-checked.

FAQs

  • We welcome applications from qualified teachers, experienced tutors and education professionals who are passionate about helping children achieve their potential. We particularly value experience supporting pupils with dyslexia, ADHD, autism, SEND and those who have lost confidence in learning.


  • Most of our tutors hold a teaching qualification or a relevant degree with substantial tutoring experience. Specialist qualifications in SEND or dyslexia are highly valued but are not essential for every role.

  • We regularly recruit tutors for:

    • English

    • Maths

    • Science

    • Entrance examinations (11+/13+)

    • Dyslexia and specialist literacy support

  • Most of our tuition is delivered online via Zoom. We also offer some in-person tutoring.

  • Yes. Tutoring is flexible, and you decide when you are available. We will match students to your availability wherever possible. Some tutors teach just a few hours each week, while others build a much fuller timetable. Many of our tutors combine work with Open Doors Education alongside their own tutoring practice or teaching role, provided there is no conflict of interest.

  • Our tutors are paid competitive hourly rates based on their qualifications, experience and the type of tuition being delivered. Rates will be discussed during the recruitment process. Tutors submit invoices every fortnight. Payments are made by bank transfer shortly after the invoice deadline, in accordance with our payment policy.

  • No. Our tutors work as self-employed subcontractors and are responsible for managing their own tax and National Insurance obligations.

  • Yes. All tutors must hold an Enhanced DBS certificate (or be willing to obtain one) before working with students. We also complete safeguarding, reference and identity checks before offering tuition opportunities.

  • Our recruitment process typically includes:

    • Initial interview

    • Verification of qualifications

    • Reference checks

    • DBS and safeguarding checks

    • Contractual agreement 

  • Yes. Although we recruit experienced tutors, we provide guidance, resources and ongoing support. We are passionate about maintaining exceptionally high standards of tuition.
